Antithrombotic Therapy in Peripheral Artery Disease: Stepping in the Right Direction

Literature review of randomized studies using PubMed and MEDLINE databases. The preferred therapy for symptomatic patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) not scheduled intervention is aspirin. For undergoing endovascular revascularization, the dual antiplatelet aspirin (ASA) clopidogrel (Plavix) at least first month followed by long-term single therapy. surgical choice prosthetic grafts anticoagulation venous grafts. Using both ASA plus low-dose rivaroxaban can reduce complications in all these patient populations. Further are on-going regarding benefit anticoagulants PAD.
